A Christmas gift of a primitive loom in 1971 was the first step in what has now become a 43 year career as a handweaver. At that point in my life I was lucky to discover that I found great satisfaction in producing a tangible product everyday. To this day I seek to create functional and beautiful fabrics.
Mine is the world’s smallest business. All the work is done by me - from designing, weaving and finishing all the fabrics to changing the oil in the truck.
Parts of our old NH farmhouse have become studio, office and storeroom. What began as a Finnish counter-marche loom has now been completely rebuilt into a 58”, eight harness jack loom that is a wonderful tool.
I handweave my fabrics using very high quality yarns from around the world - Asia, Africa, Europe, the South Pacific, South and North America.
I sell most of my work through a small number of craft fairs each year. Hopefully this website will give you an opportunity to see my work more easily. You can come visit the studio and see my work by appointment.
Over the last ten years I’ve greatly expanded my teaching of weaving. Click on the classes link to see a schedule of my upcoming workshops.
